Transistors are electronic components that control electric current in electronic circuits. While passing electric current, they limit the movement of their electronic cavity and therefore they can control the electric current. Transistors play an important role in the operation of electronic devices and are available in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Transistors consist of three basic parts: a collector, an emitter and a base. The electric current is controlled by passing it through the base between the collector and the emitter. Transistors can control the electric current by changing the resistance of the base between the base and the emitter.
Transistors are used in a variety of electronic devices and are particularly used in power supplies, signal processing devices, and other devices. Transistors may be less expensive than other electronic components, but they perform better at lower frequencies.
